Personal information about participants are to remain confidential. Written consent must be obtained or sensitive aspects of participants are disguised to make them unidentifiable. This is all part of the APA Ethics Code Standard. Psychologists are held to the Standards 8.01-8.09 of the APA Ethics Code. These standards state that psychologists are required to provide accurate information about their research, obtain consent from participants, inform participants of the what the research entails, protecting the participant’s privacy, information, and participant as a whole, not offer any kind of inducement that can coerce the participants participation, avoid deception in research, and provide way for participants to see conclusion of research.
